Your Deepest Desire

What is your deepest desire? My friend asked me that question via this question (does that make sense?):
If you were looking into the Mirror of Erised, what would you see?
Why?!! Such a hard question. Really.

For a flicker of a second, I had thought the Mirror of Erised was a mirror that showed you your past. (I haven't read Harry Potter in a long time, okay?)

The Mirror of Erised is a mirror that shows you your deepest desire (was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone).

Jokingly, I had thought, "For this blog to be successful!" It's a running joke between my friend and I, that we're going to become rich and famous bloggers. Ha! For me, blogging is more therapeutic than anything else; I like to write down my thoughts and ramblings. Where that ends up, well... that's another story.

To be honest, I don't know what I would want. I think at the moment, I'd want to be healthy? It's super cheesy and cliche, but I'm saying it with honesty. This year was the worst year for me. I took a week off of school because I was sick (I kid you not), and just recently, I found myself throwing up and feeling really, really sick.

However, with a question like "What is your deepest desire?", I feel like there's an implication that you can't get what you want. Harry Potter's deepest desire was to be with his parents, who died protecting him. It's his deepest desire because it can never become true.

So, for me to say that my deepest desire is to become healthy, there's an undercurrent of I'm never going to be healthy which is not true. What a dreary thought! To never be healthy. So, no, my deepest desire is not "to be healthy."

So... in the end, what is my deepest desire? I don't know, but I think it's fun not knowing. There's a sense of mystery and drive in that because aren't we living to achieve some far unknown goal? What fun is there to know what you really truly want? (Is that an excuse for not knowing? Hahaha...)

Anyways, to throw the dice or whatever they call it when I'm turning a question around, what is your deepest desire?

P.S Dear person who asked me this question, no wonder you want to become a journalist (or used to want to) because it's a darn good question. Chase your dreams!
